1098 Mortgage Interest Statement Form to IRS?
I recieved my 1098 Mortgage Interest Statement for 2010. this is my first time recieving this since i’ve purchased my home in 2010. I already claimed the First time homeowners credit on my 2009 tax return for my home purchased in 2010. i went to get an estimate on my taxes today and was told that since my Mortgage Interest Statement DID NOT EXCEED 11,000 worth of deductions, that i did not have to file a return for it. My question is, is this true and where can i get the information to prove this. I do not want to get in troubnle with the IRS.
That’s a deduction not income.
